Thomas was training for the 2009 Monster Mash Natural and also competed in the 2009 Bluegrass Muscle Classic as a "warmup contest."

At the 2009 Monster Mash Natural, Thomas won 3rd place in the Mens Junior Class out of 12 competitors and also won 3rd place Mens Open Middleweight out of 13 competitors!
