Who am I?

My name is Jason Allinder. I am a professional civil engineer who enjoys bodybuilding as a hobby. I like to approach training from a scientific standpoint since science and numbers are kind of my thing :) I am 37 years old. I'm 5'7" and weight is between ~160 lbs. and ~200lbs., depending on how close the next contest is. I have been working out serious since I was 23 years old, and started competing at age 28. How did I get into competing? I had the unfortunate (or so I thought at the time) luck of losing my job. I took this negative and thought about how I could turn it into a positive. Since I had all of this time on my hands, and had been working out for years, I thought now is the time to try to do something with my hobby. First I thought maybe fighting was a good route, so I trained for a Toughman boxing contest. My three minutes of getting tortured in the ring was enough for me to decide to pursue something different. Bodybuilding competition was what came next. I spent my days training twice per day, eating 6 times a day, and spending every other waking minute researching diet and training. I won my first three contests the first year! After that I found work and found out that it's much harder to compete when working a full time job, but I finally adapted to that too. So now I guess I'm working full time, taking on extra work, and still competing! I've heard the busiest person gets the most done :)

Why did I start Rock Solid Physique?

When I started working out in my local YMCA, I was a scrawny little guy who wanted to pack on as much muscle as possible. I couldn't even lift a standard bar over my head. I had to start with 5 and 10 pound dumbbells and eventually work my way up to using just the bar. I always say, everybody's gotta start somewhere. Back then, there was no such thing as a personal trainer when and where I started. We all helped each other. The guys who had been doing it for years were always eager to help us beginners. I have had a lot of help along the way with lifting techniques, exercises, contest preparation, and dieting, so I began to help others when they asked me for it. It's called giving back and that's something I was taught is important once you become successful at something. Dieting and training is just something I've learned a lot about and I'm good at helping others with. I've been answering questions, training people for contests, giving my opinions on supplements, etc. for years. It became time consuming and not only taking away from what free time I had, but also makes my workouts take much longer at times to stop and help others. I only want to get paid a little something for my time.

How am I different from a personal trainer?

For one, this is not my career. It's my hobby and something I'm passionate about. I already have a day job, so I am not trying to pay my bills by helping you. I've seen it many times, some trainers are not training people to learn, they are training them to need training...which is fine if you are a person that is not self-motivated and need someone to hold you accountable. If that is you, I am not the help you are looking for. If you are already self-motivated and just need to learn how to eat and how to train to meet your goals, that's where I come in. There is no one program or one diet that is going to work forever, and it doesn't happen overnight, but you will see progress and that is always a great motivator. Whether you are wanting to acquire more muscle mass, get rid of some body fat, or just want to be more fit and healthy, I can help you do these things. I gain and lose 30 or more pounds each year to either prepare for bodybuilding competitions or to try to put on more muscle mass when I am not competing. It's something I've spent a lot of time researching and practicing and I know how to help people with this. Although I have mostly worked with bodybuilders that want to compete, I can also help you if you are not wanting to take it to this extreme.

What are the goals of Rock Solid Physique?

I have two main goals:

  1. Give you the information (and feedback) that you need to make the changes to your physique that you would like to make.

  2. Make it so that you no longer require my services.
